Matthew 8:6-8

6 “Lord,[a] my servant[b] is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible anguish.” 7 Jesus[c] said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion replied,[d] “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof! Instead, just say the word and my servant will be healed.

  2. Matthew 8:6 tn The Greek term here is παῖς (pais), often used of a slave who was regarded with some degree of affection, possibly a personal servant. See L&N 87.77.
  3. Matthew 8:7 tn Grk “And he”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
